Where Did the Moon Go?

Many years ago, during a lunar eclipse, a young boy witnesses the moon disappear from the dark night sky. But where did it go?

His mother tells him a fantastical tale in which the moon is swallowed whole by a massive whale. And if he doesn’t throw it up, the moon will never grace the velvet night’s sky again.

Terrified of that very thought, he seeks out his teacher who explains simply the facts about eclipses and how the moon disappeared behind the shadow of the earth.
