This monograph explores the life and work of the prolific Namibian artist, Rudolph Seibeb. Through a close reading of the materials, themes, concerns, and questions at work in his work, Portraits of the Common puts forward an in-depth and considered examination of Seibeb’s practice, situating it in a broader Namibian and, indeed, global art making context. Pairing artworks from the ARAK Collection with written contributions and interviews by Abdul Rahman AlKhelaifi, Ashraf Jamal, Marcos Jinguba, Frieda Luhl, Jamil Osmar Parasol, Elize van Huyssteen, and Seibeb himself, this monograph paints a collective portrait of one of Namibia’s most important living artists.
