Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press to Host Qatari Author at Kuwait International Book Fair for Book Signing

For the third consecutive year, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press will participate in the Kuwait International Book Fair this coming 20 – 30 November. The HBKU Press booth, located in Hall 6, Booth 31, will highlight its complete catalog of works including new titles in every genre and will also host Qatari author, Amal Al Langawi, for a book signing ceremony on Thursday, November 21st.

“Our presence at international fairs like the Kuwait International Book Fair validates HBKU Press as one of the key players from the Arab region in the global publishing market,” explains Bachar Chebaro, Executive Director of HBKU Press. “We use these international opportunities to host Qatari authors in our booth in order to provide them with a platform to share their ideas and promote their work, while also exposing new audiences to different viewpoints and ways of thinking.”

For the first-time Qatari author, the upcoming book signing session of her work, titled, Here’s My Opinion; What’s Yours?, marks one of many promotional activities that Al Langawi has engaged in with HBKU Press since her book launched earlier this year.

“Working with HBKU Press on my first book has been a true privilege,” explains Al Langawi. “Since the beginning of the publishing process, HBKU Press encouraged my ideas and even came up with an innovative design that captured my vision of allowing the reader the space and opportunity to form and write down their own opinions in the book as they read along.

“HBKU Press had already organized the successful launch of my book in Qatar at FNAC in Doha Festival City, so I know that this upcoming book signing event in Kuwait is sure to be a great success.”

In the book, Al Langawi shares her adopted convictions while encouraging readers to join her on a journey of self-discovery and understanding by writing their own thoughts in the blank pages provided in the book.

“Forming your own opinions while considering and understanding those of others is an example of self-awareness, humility, openness, tolerance, and acceptance,” she explains. “If you are able to do this, you are more likely to empathize with others and view the world through multiple, varied lenses. This is a message that is very valuable in our global community, so being able to share this message to a new audience in Kuwait is an instrumental opportunity that HBKU Press has arranged for me.”

HBKU Press will be at the 44th annual Kuwait International Book Fair for the duration of the fair, which is being held at the Kuwait International Fairground in Mishref.  Opening hours start each morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and resume again from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. All HBKU Press titles will be available at the HBKU Press booth and Amal Al Langawi’s book signing session in the HBKU Press booth will begin at 7 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, 21 November, 2019.
